    unable to sign POA form

I have a client who is hospitalized far from his home. An IRS Power of Attorney has been sent to him via a relative but the client was unable to sign. His mother is the designated signer on the form and also a dependent of taxpayer. Any suggestions?
Your help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Does his mother have a POA from him that allows her to sign documents for him? Who will be signing his return? Is mom handling his personal finances? What is the reason that he cannot sign?
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.

No, the POA we need signed is for her. He is physically unable to sign because he is in an medically induced coma awaiting an organ transplant. Tough situation.

Since there maybe more information that you can not share here it maybe be wise to seek legal consultation

Surely he must have someone in charge of handling his affairs. If it is his mother then have her file F56...separate of the tax return. Attach medical records that verify his condition.
