Drake users: Did you have to get a Efile Applican Summary from IRS Eservices?

I am being told by Drake that I have to go to IRS Eservices (which I do not use) and obtain a Efile Application Summary to validate my 2016 software (a requirement that all software vendors have to do). My question is, has anyone been able to do this validation process with Drake (or anyone else) without going through IRS Eservices? I have never used Eservices and understand it is a logistical nightmare to work with. Thank you for any input.

Not sure how you got your efin/etc without an eservices account... but that being said.

I use taxslayer pro and didn't have to do all that stuff. I have used them since 2011 and all i had to do is plug a verification code in my software from their webpage.

      Efile Summary

I'm with Proseries. They required one from me. I didn't use eservices also. But back in late Nov. I did it. It wasn't to hard to get the Summary page. I tried to do it online couldn't, up pop a 800 number called it got right thru. They solve the issues I had. Printed out the Summary page and did what I had to do with Proseries. Your just going to have to work thru it, sorry to say.

          From a Drake User

The responses were indeed helpful, but none of them came from Drake users. Since I am a Drake user I can speak with all omniscience, right?

Seriously, I received the same news you did from Drake, and trying to navigate through the eservices website was like a bad dream. So I called Drake when I read your message.

I became a Drake user in 2009 when a different approval IRS process was in place for all EFINs. I qualified then, so Drake tells me I am qualified now. I promise you I don't remember a thing about it...but I do remember some broad in the Nashville office was a supervisor for all e-file applications until they closed down her office and migrated to a different process.

In other words, by doing nothing I now have done something. Nothing's something...

Do they ever think like this in educated states like Pennsylvania??

Don't know why Pro Seies required it from you. Maybe because you are new with them?

Did you miss the part that says "or have been e-filing with Intuit and have not previously submitted verification"?

Nope. One should not have to repeat what was said already which you are doing here. Relax its not tax season. By the way the question was for the Intuit customer Poster and if Intuit told them the reason since not shown in that post and if poster knew the reasons were available on Intuit's website as you demonstrated.

                        Intuit's Request..

The request from ProSeries for my Efin Summary came from the fact that I had been with them for 3 year. This will be my 4 year. I don't think in the beginning I every gave them my original letter from the IRS. I came over from ATX in 2013. I do about 600 - 1040 returns. I need to be ready for this coming year. If they want the Efin Summary page I'm for one going to get it, not wait for the last minute to pull it together.

                          Thank you all. Matter resolved

Thank you for your responses, my matter was resolved. The new IRS requirement is that all software vendor verify their user's EFIN's. There has been much confusion here and I thought it had something to do with Eservices but it does not. If your a Drake user, when you go through the 2016 SETUP process it will ask you to confirm your EFIN, (click CONFIRM) just call Drake and they will tell you what you need to do. In my case, I faxed them my old letters from IRS I had in my files for years of my EFIN acceptance. Drake said thats fine and I do not need to get an online Applicaltion Summary to verify my EFIN. Hope this clears it up. Thank you again.

Totally confused when your last post states "Drake said thats fine and I do not need to get an online Applicaltion Summary to verify my EFIN" vs your Original Post when you state they "do"!!

No need to reply to this post but glad to hear your set for tax season. Your post did generate some interesting replies though.

One vendor not yet mentioned (Thomson Reuters) confirms that IRS is requesting a current EFIN verification, not just the original EFIN acceptance letter received years ago. This is from an email sent to licensees of TR product last July:

"The IRS recently adjusted their e-filing guidelines to require that all software providers must retain a copy of each customer's e-file application summary, even if an acceptance letter or a screen shot from IRS.gov has already been submitted.

"As a result, if you haven't already done so you'll need to provide a copy of the IRS e-file application summary from your e-services account."

I don't think IRS has legal authority to enforce this, so they are relying on vendor cooperation. So maybe Drake is being more lenient with verification than what IRS is requesting?
