Client's parents set up a 529 plan for her, but she did not use it. Now she is going to have a child, can she transfer this 529 plan for her child?

The beneficiary (bene) can be changed, but I don't think the plan will allow the daughter can do it. Instead, the parents who set it up can change the bene from their daughter to their grandchild-to-be, but not until that g'child is born. Alternatively, the QTP funds can be distributed to the daughter who, in turn, can roll them over (within 60 days) into another QTP and then change the bene to her child once it is born.Roland Slugg
