    C Corp Investment in other company

    I have a C-Corp who invested money in a private equity company. At the time, they recorded the following entry:

    Long Term Invest XX
    cash XX
    The company is no longer in operation. How do I record the removal of the investment off their books?

      Buy or Invest With?

      Did they buy an interest in the equity company or did they invest their money WITH the equity company?

      Also, which company is no longer in business?

      If it is the equity company that is out of business and the c-corp had invested with the the company, did the c-corp get any of their investment back or was it a complete loss?
