    How to file name change with IRS for non-profit

    I have a 501(c)(3) that wants to change their name. In addition to filing the amendment to the certificate of incorporation with the state, I'd like to know what is required to record the change with the IRS. Thanks.

    Use the new name on the return, F-990, check the box in block B, and attach the required information. See the F-990 instructions ... page 8.

      Thanks, but the client filed the 990-N so I guess I'll have to write to the IRS with the name change.
