    Illegals

    A person in this country has an ITIN number. She does cleaning work as a contractor.

    The payor asked for a W9. She filled out the W9 with her ITIN and files a 1040 and schedule C and pays SE tax.

    Purely from a tax perspective is this proper treatment?

    The W-9 asks for a SSN or EIN, neither of which she has so it's not accurate. As far as her reporting the income and paying the appropriate tax, it sounds correct to use a Sch C on a 1040.
