    Drunken sailor

    Your analogy is colorful but untrue. I was in the Navy myself, and speaking from experience I can assure you that nobody let's a drunken sailor run a seven trillion dollar tab.

        Good grief!

        Another zealot (Joe ... I give up; what is it?). Look, in the first place we didn't get along without taxes. The 1913 model was preceded by one during the civil war, various on-again, off-again versions at times, and numerous and sundry taxes on booze, shipping, imports, etc. dating all the way back to Revolutionary War times. Besides, if we didn't have it, who or what do you think would pay for building and maintaining those highways you're so fond of running up and down on? Charitable donations from you?
