    AZ help, please

Married clients, both military officers. Both TX residents (home of record for both)

TP retired from military and now they are both living in AZ because the SP is stationed there.

Am I required to file an AZ return for the retired TP?

I have searched and called, and still no answer.

I got the answer. I don't know how to delete this post. thanks!

Only bad feature about Tax Forum. If you post something originally, you cannot delete it even if there are no responses!

      Az taxes on retired military

      Curious: What was the answer?
Friends double; family triple. Don't buy an audit for yourself. If someone has to go to jail make sure it is the client. Remember it is only taxes, nothing important.

        spousal exemption

I know all about the military spousal exemption, but this is "unearned" income. That was my question... Earned income would definitely be exempt, but pension?

I called AZ and it took the agent 20 minutes to find the answer. I didn't feel so dumb after that.

She said that it is exempt if the spouse qualifies for the exemption, which she does, no doubt.

So, no AZ return needs to be filed.
