    1099q

Taxpayer has a 1099Q that has been issued for a withdrawal from an Coverdell ESA. The funds were all used to pay college tuition for her daughter and she has documentation of this. ESA is in her name for her daughter. SS number on 1099Q is the daughter's. My question has to do with does the mother need to include this on her tax return, showing the withdrawal and that it was used for tuition. Parents are divorced and this is the year for dad to claim the daughter as a dependent. Therefore daughter will not be on mom's return. Wondering what about the 1099Q? If it had mom's SS number I would just show it on her tax return. Since it has daughter's SS number wondering what I should do.

Is the daughter filing her own dependent return?

Because the tuition expenses equal the distribution, no taxes!
