    IRS Refund Cycle

Does anyone have the path to find the IRS refund cycle for Direct Deposit & Paper Check refunds?

    Have one

I have one but can't remember where I found it. I would be glad to email it to you.

The IRS no longer publishes a refund cycle chart. Any chart you may find are third party guesses. The IRS will only say that 9 out of 10 taxpayers will receive a refund within 21 days.

        Why bother?

Timing of refunds is out of my control and has never been on my worry list.

The last thing I need in the home stretch is some client rattling my chain and saying "But you TOLD ME I would get my refund by . . . ."

The IRS and most states now have online sites to track refund status. Tell your clients to go that route.

As dkss stated, the "21-day" turnaround is a reasonable, but obviously not applicable in all cases, general guideline.

Yeah, I've had people get refunds in about a week and some in about 3 on federal. That's what I tell my people, could be a week, could be 3---1 to 3 weeks.

I print this out and make it part of my package to clients receiving a refund from Uncle Sam:

About half a dozen of my clients including one receiving EITC told me that they received the Fed refund in about a week! That is the fastest i have seen in many years.
