    Ssa-1099

My client received $621 from social security for his deceased father. It says the recipient is Steven O/A Arthur Decd. What do I do with this information.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Does it have his father's SSN on it? Sounds like one month's benefit due when he died, but hard to tell without confirmation. It would go on his father's final 1040 if that is the case, or on the estate if it filed a 1041.

Yes, it has his ssn on it and not the father's.

What if it has the son's ssn on it? Does it get added to the son's social security and reported that way?

Thanks for your help in advance.
