1. You might want to review TTB 11-15 (see update on TTB update page).
1a It appears you are inquiring about the energy credits part of the recent extender's bill approved by Congress.
1b If you are asking about a specific tax credit for gas (fireplace?) logs maybe there is something at the state level.
2. The short answer is no (at least i.m.h.o.).Friends double; family triple. Don't buy an audit for yourself. If someone has to go to jail make sure it is the client. Remember it is only taxes, nothing important.
