It has been widely reported on the net and some print magazines (PC Mag) that you have to manually update windows and deselect the Windows 10 otherwise if you allow automatic update it will download Win 10 and then nag you at each startup to install Win 10.

The newest updates for windows 7 & 8 will default to upgrade to windows 10, which I find outrageous. I only learned about this going to the German Google website. Stop installing automatic updates, if you do not want to upgrade to windows 10, manually selected the boxes for all important updates and unselect the box for the optional update for the windows 10 upgrade after checking to show all updates.
