While I was on the phone today with the IRS, the IRS rep gave me the Fax # for the CAF dept (855-214-7522) to fax in my form 2848 (POA). Anyone know if that procedure works better then calling the IRS and then fax in your form 2848 while you have the IRS rep on the phone and he or she ask if you want your form 2848 sent to the CAF dept? I really don't know why any tax preparer would answer no to that question.

I fax every poa to CAF. If I need to speak to the IRS and it isn't on file yet, then I fax it directly to whomever I am speaking with. Don't count on the employee to submit it to CAF for you. Many of them don't. Also if you fax it to CAF and wait about 10 days you can use E-services.Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.
