Final return form 1040 Executor claiming refund...did the IRS filing method change?

Final return form 1040 Executor claiming refund. IRS requires mail in vs. e-file. Its been a while since I prepared a final 1040 w/refund so has the IRS always required a final tax return w/refund be mailed in?

    Final Return Filed by Executor

You most likely will have to prepare Form 1310- Statement of a person claiming refund due a deceased taxpayer, which usually means that you have to mail in the return. If the person claiming the refund was a surviving spouse than you can efile.
    Hope this helps.
