If the return was extended, I think the client has until 10/15/2015 to claim a 2011 refund; just my 2 cents (worth a wooden nickel).

Much obliged for the reference, but after reading reams of sub-section so-and-sos, I still can't dope out whether Dave in Texas' above-mentioned 2 cents worth is worth the wooden nickel or not. You wouldn't happen to have a yes or no handy on the question of whether the six-month extension is any good or not, would you? Thanx either way.

            Dear TAXNJ,

...equal to 3 years plus the period of any extension of time for filing...
Dear Black Bart - does this help?
            Yes! Lots!

...did you look at the reference cited?
Yes, but not closely enough, apparently. Thanks...and I shall now consider you (and me, and Dave in Texas) full-fledged members of the "good-wooden-nickel" opinion club.

You're a good egg and I appreciate it.

            Regards, BB

Applying for a Refund? Did it have a properly executed form 4868?

That is what is referenced with a properly executed form 4868
