    401K to IRA - RMD

    When you transfer your 401k from your employer to an IRA, is that amount added to the calculation for the RMD?

      If 401k was subject to RMD

      If 401k was subject RMD, then custodian of 401k should distribute that RMD before transfer. Once transferred, it becomes part of IRA and subject to IRA RMD based on previous year end value of IRA.
