April client surprises - Justifiable wrath recipients? - Add your own!

    I'll start:

Long-term client who has been known to procrastinate until the very last moment.

He sent me his bare bones info (for filing extension) this date - I think it's April 9th ? - to include W2, 1099s, 1098 etc and some "stuff" for a meaningful filing extension determination.

Dare I even mention his brokerage accounts now contain "only" six separate MLPs/PTPs, most of which are oil/energy related?? I had to educate him about a new phrase of relevance: "Schedule K-1" .

    Well, at least I now have some (more) post-April 15th work. . . .

      No documentation brought in . . .

Long time client. Nice person. Drops off his stuff Monday. He wrote on notebook paper SSA, 1099-Rs, INT, DIV, medical expenses, mortgage, re tax, etc. Does not fill out our client organizer. I call and asked for the actual statements and he says "You need those. But I wrote everything down" In my head "YES, YOU BRING THOSE IN EVERY YEAR, WE NEED ALL THE STATEMENTS."

But I politely replied, "Yes, please bring those in."

Now, our main front office girl went on maternity leave last Friday. So, on top of all this nonsense, we are short one person.
