    Clergy Tax Return

Minister is preaching full time as a fill-in pastor. He received a 1099Misc for his income. Is there any deductions he can take? He thought he could deduct some of the income as a housing allowance, but I think that is only from pastors that receive a W2. Any suggestions?

He needs to check with the church to see if any of the income was designated as housing allowance. It probably wasn't, but churches do these things wrong all the time. He still should have received a W-2, not a 1099 under these circumstances.
