    Incorrect EIN on IRS Form 1041

    Taxpayer filed a trust tax return in 2013 but accidentally wrote down an incorrect tax ID number. How do we correct this? Can the return be amended with that being the only thing changed?

      I am surprised he didn't get a letter already as there is a name control input, and it would not have matched their records.

          I suggest a cover letter go with the amended return explaining the error.
          Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.
