    department of energy compensation

I am looking for information regarding the DOE compensation for asbestos workers. I can't find anything on the DOE website or on the IRS website.

Is the compensation taxable? It seems like it would be treated the same as workers compensation, but I'm not sure. Any insights are appreciated, thanks in advance!

Compensation for asbestos (mesothelioma) injuries are treated as personal injury damages and, as such, are not taxable in accordance with Code ยง104(a)(2).
