    Identity Theft (Anthem)

I have had 2 clients in the last week whose identity was stolen in the Anthem Blue Cross breach. One client's fraudulent return has already been filed. The other client's return "may" have already been filed. This client received a text message this morning from ????, advising them that their return has been filed and giving them a confirmation number.

Maybe this text message was from Turbo Tax? Have any of you had anything similar to this happen to your clients? Does Turbo Tax send text messages to its clients.?

Any information/advice anyone has would be much appreciated.

turbo tax sends an email to confirm return was sent , then another when return is accepted by IRS. HRB sends the same except they include DCN number on accepted by IRS.

Thank you! My client might be okay. Maybe this was a phishing trip (text).

Could also be that someone typed a wrong phone number into Turbotax. Guess you'll find out when you go to file the return and it gets rejected or not.
