If someone is in the Military with earnings of say 20K which is all excludable or non taxable combat pay would they still be required to file a return? I would think so, but the rule seems to say you do not need to factor in income exempt from tax. Reason I am asking this question is that it could potentially effect how his wife is treated on her parents return.
