    Cover Oregon update

I guess they got tired of the calls so they added the bronze and silver plan costs to their website.

I mentioned to them there is nothing about tobacco users so they haven't quite got it yet.

    Thanks...how have you used info?

As an Oregonian, I appreciate the info and have printed out for my area. However, I haven't had the need to use them yet so could you tell me when I might need the info. I haven't seen a 1095-A yet but there is a column for the cost of Silver plan as I recall. Will the forms come with that filled in or will I need to use the info from you(i.e., the website) when reconciling the PTC? Will the bronze one be used to determine whether taxpayer is eligible for the unaffordable (premium > 8% of HH income) exception? Or is there something else that I have missed and/or haven't encountered yet?

to compute the 8% exception but so far it hasn't precluded a penalty/tax "shared responsibility payment".

Did Oregon charge more for tobacco users? Not all States charge more.

As a side note, tobacco use will only affect the Bronze plans, not the Second Lowest Cost Silver Plan. (For purposes of the 8% "unaffordable" exemption and Premium Tax Credit).

If the taxpayer received the Advance credit, the Silver plan will be on the 1095-A. If they did not receive the Advance credit, you usually will need to look it up.

To determine if the cost of Marketplace insurance was "unaffordable" for an uninsured person, we need to look up both the Bronze and Silver plans to determine if the cost AFTER the hypothetical Premium Tax Credit was more than 8% of the Household income.

Oregon not punishing tobacco users in any way they can. Before the website was updated we had to call and I believe they asked me about tobacco use.

            In our state marijuana=good tobacco=bad
