    941'S AND 943'S signatures

I have always had the owner sign these forms and then mail, but upon reading the "under penalties of perjury" I'm wondering if I could go ahead and sign them as preparer. it would save time and trips to my office. Is it acceptable?

No, the preparer signs as a paid preparer based all information of which you have knowledge.

    The taxpayer needs to sign.

Can the owner give me the authority to sign for him?

No more than they can give you the authority to sign their 1040.

I would not sign for them, even if they could give me the authority. The only way you could sign would be to become a Reporting Agent. I was one for a year but found that liability issues out weighed me being able to sign or efile the returns.
