you young whippersnapper. I've got a different view about some of those entitlements (specifically, the one's I'm entitled to) and I think the granting of them is most certainly in the finest tradition of that noble American trait, a deep concern for the welfare of our fellow man/woman/person/whatever.

It's a good thing you quit spoutin' off that Latin. I was fixin' to write my congressman and ask him to introduce a constitutional amendment bannin' all such things from webposts (besides you're gonna need to learn to speak Spanish).

P.S. You're probably in cahoots with jainen to poll my poll and furthermore, I'll bet you do RALs too.

Allot of topics that manage to get discussed on this board do not belong on a tax message board. But I’m not going to censor posts unless people start hurling personal insults at each other.

A good spin to make this discussion appropriate for a tax message board is to debate tax policy. Republicans were traditionally conservative on fiscal policy and for lower tax rates. Democrats were traditionally liberal on fiscal policy and in favor of raising taxes on the rich.

One thing I have noticed in new tax laws past under President Bush is a new trend where tax laws are not permanent. More so than any other time in history, we get new rules that have sunset provisions. Presumably due to the deal making between the two opposing parties. But still, it adds a new element to long range tax planning. Basically making it impossible to predict for example what our clients will be subject to 5 or 10 years down the road.

Was it a good move for the Republicans in Congress and the President to pass all of these “temporary” tax cuts? What will happen if the Democrats take back control in 2008? Is tax planning a dead concept?

dong what he is doing

>>in cahoots with jainen<<

Now that's exactly what Brad was talking 'bout when he warned us about "hurling personal insults." I been happily married going on these 32 years.

As for your poll, electronic voting is not my style. It's just too easy to change the results. Besides, it's not going to be the Rodham girl. The 22nd Amendment says, "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice," so I don't see any reason why Curious George can't keep on dong what he is doing.

I am according to most standards only a few months from senior citizenship so I expect to sign up for all the discounts, rebates and entiltlements this crybaby society has to offer. Hopefully all the generations behind me are prepared to dedicate most of their incomes to take care of my welfare in the finest tradition. The boomer generation is getting ready to suck society dry.

Senior Discounts & Benefits

Wasn't it just a short time a go that a CA judge ruled that bars cannot have ladies night and serve drinks to ladies at a discount or free on those nights?
also wasn't there a case, in CA. that ruled baseball teams could not have a Mothers day game and give free prizes to mothers that attended without giving to men also?
Both cases said this was discrimination and was unlawful.
Now, KFC & other restaurants give discounts to senior citizens. Is this discriminatory?
In view of the above mentioned cases that was the ruling and what is the difference?
Could this also be carried farther and claim that all other senior citizens benefits are
discriminatory and therefore illegal?
By the way I am a senior citizen and have been for 10 yrs. depending on what age you
become a senior citizen.

I would like to add that I have nothing but the greatest admiriation for my father's generation. He went through the depression served in WW11 and the Korean War. My generation pales beside the builders.
I don't mind really giving them some of the benefits they receive. However the system is going to collapse.
