Are you using a Health Care Organizer?

I studied the TTB Health Care Organizer several times and I feel its just to lengthy and most of my clients wont both completing it. Looking at my ProSeries tax software, if TP bring in their 1095-A, 1095-B, and 1095-C, I enter the data similar to a W-2 etc. but what about if the TP and/or dependents did not have Health Ins? Will we need to find out why they didn't thus the TTB health organizer may come in handy.

What questions are you tax preparers using on your tax organizers?

I use TTB but I am not using that particular organizer.

I am using the ACA checklist published by NATP. I like that format better. Takes about 5 to 10 minutes and you have covered all the bases.

I can not expect my clients to fill a regular organizer let alone a special ACA organizer!

      1. TTB Organizer put my test 'clients' (spouse and neighbor) to sleep. So it must be good.
      2. I developed (finally) a one sheet, one page, form for clients to fill out and sign in the waiting room, or with the preparer (depending on business conditions). Specific issues of part year coverage, subsidies, etc. can be dealt with at the preparer desk.
      3. I will use either the TTB organizer and the NATP health care form when interviewing clients; I may send a version of the TTB HC organizer to clients who drop off of mail in their tax return information.
      4. Personally, and only personally, I think the TTB organizer would have been better 'landscape.'
Friends double; family triple. Don't buy an audit for yourself. If someone has to go to jail make sure it is the client. Remember it is only taxes, nothing important.

I am using the drake software questionnaire. One page - quick to go through - will take care of most of the situations. I can follow up later for more detailed info, if needed, in complicated situations.

I rarely have any client fill out any organizer. But I send them all the entire organizer anyway for the sole purpose of covering myself if they get audited and something shows up missing. I can always point to my procedure saying everyone gets this organizer in the mail which covers the situation in question. Since my client left that part blank, so I assumed it didn't apply.

Look in blank forms, in organizer section
