    Rmd - ira & 401k?

Are the rules the same for IRA & 40lK? Assuming you are retired but left the 401K in your account.

It would be helpful to know what rules you would like to discuss.

I guess the answer I need to know is whether 401K funds that are currently in the company plan (employee is retired) subject to the RMD rules like an IRA?

Yes, the rules are pretty much the same if retired. If the taxpayer is 70.5 years old an RMD must be made for the year, and it can only come from the 401(k) plan. That is, you can't combine the RMD with any IRA's the client might have.
