    Employer Provided Health Insurance

I have a client (llc filing as partnership) who provides insurance coverage to select employees via a group plan and also pays their own premiums via the llc. I'm thinking this is no longer allowable under the ACA is it? Or are employers still allowed to offer plans to certain classes of employees (this is a less than 50 employee employer)? If it is not allowable, when do the penalties kick in for them. I'm so confused on all of the dates...

I would think if the plan met the ACA guide lines for insurance coverage what would be the problem?

The first step would be to find out of if the medical carve out plan is grandfathered. Ask the insurance company. If not grandfathered, then it is likely the penalties would begin in 2014. The penalty is for the 100/day discrimination - not the penalty for not offering coverage.

This is an extremely uncertain area right now as DOL has not released enough information.
