IRS sent client a CP2000 in July regarding a Section 529 payment. We respoinded with doumentaiton showing that all money that came from the 529 was used for school expenses.
Then, IRS sent my client a Notice of Deficiency dated Oct 14, saying she owed $2,302 for 2012. On Oct 27, IRS sent the client a CP2005 saying the 2012 inquiry is closed and the amount due is zero. We are assuming the CP2005 is superceeding the previous letter and no further action is required on our part. Has anyone seen anything like this?
