I have just prepared 4 years of returns for a client. I would like to contact the IRS and let them know I would like to submit these to bring this client current, but would like to discuss OIC. Since he hasn't received a letter from the IRS, I would like to initiate contact. What is the best number/branch to contact to begin? Any numbers better than the preparer lines?

OIC won't start anything until the TP is up to date with filed returns, estimated payments, etc soooo
Mail each return in a separate envelope certified mail. Wait for the TP to getting a letter from IRS for each year.
Have TP make voluntary payments monthly without an installment agreement.
Make sure TP is up to date on everything.
Download the new OIC packet. Have TP fill out 433a or b, whichever applies.
Determine how much TP can pay, then start your OIC.
Calling them now will get you nowhere.Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.
