    Applying for Exemption from the Health Coverage Payment?

    I understand that one needs to apply and receive an exemption (if it applies) before the return can be filed. I can't imagine preparing the extension request, receiving some kind of approval, and filing the return by April 15th. August 15th, maybe!

      When you should apply

      Depends on the type of exemption you qualify for:

      Exemptions to get a Catastrophic plan
      https://www.healthcare.gov/exemptions/
      If you’re over 30 and want to enroll in a Catastrophic plan through the Marketplace, you must apply and get approved for an exemption. Official government website.       Some are granted at time of filing and some require prior approval.

      Bill accordingly.
