    Am I missing the obvious?

Client has a total of $60,226.74 as a Summary of 2013 Proceeds from Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions. However, the total on 1099-B shows a total Sales Price of $36,103.48. It's from Fidelity, if that helps. Is there a reasonable explanation or I am I just missing something obvious (maybe a few brain cells)?

    Thanks

Sometimes "cash in lieu" doesn't show on 1099-B but does on annual statement, sometimes bonds maturing don't show. You'll have to compare the detail between the two or ask the broker. I've even had two accounts but only one annual statement, so the statement was really a total of both accounts at that brokerage.

Also, puts and calls don't show on the 1099-B.
