Tax Prep education on Affordable Care Act for 2014

I want to get up to speed on what I need to know in preparering for the 2014 tax season concerning the Affordable Care Act.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Has anyone looked at the Health Care & Retirement book that TAX BOOK is offering. Thanks

    Publications Available

There are several publications available. Publication 5151, Report changes to the Marketplace as they happen. #5156, Facts about the individual shared responsbility provision. Also #5120, Facts about the premium tax credit. Never read these. I need to know more about the AFC also. How will the government know if you have health insurance? On the w-2? I assume we would have to ask each taxpayer at the beginning of the interview? Etc. etc. etc. According to a report, our state has 95% coverage so the problem would only be with the 5%.

      1. The Tax Materials book on "health care reform" was worth the cost. Much easier to digest the important portions to tax preparers than CCH materials.
      2. Probably there will be a new version for 2014 with all the executive order and IRS mandated changes on deadlines and such.
      3. I do wish with the Tax Materials book on Health Care Reform had cross-references to the TTB sections and some references to state specific requirements.
Friends double; family triple. Don't buy an audit for yourself. If someone has to go to jail make sure it is the client. Remember it is only taxes, nothing important.
