Non-CPA firm. Can I collect a referral fee from a CPA?

I am an accountant, not an EA or CPA. I am down sizing and no longer take new or past clients. I refer them to a CPA. The CPA wants to give me a 10% referral fee. Is this legal?

If it is a one time finder's fee I don't see what the problem is?

Wouldn't it depend on your state law, which is what usually governs the practice of accountants (both certified and others)?

Chapter 473.3205 Commissions or referral fees (State of Fl)

Thanks to a reply I received, I found my answer. The website is flsenate.gov/laws/statutes.

Look up Chapter 473.3205. This is the State of Florida.

        Thanks for your help!
