In what webside can I discuss about financial accounting?

I know intermediate financial accounting. I know little about taxes. In what webside can I chat the financial accounting?

    Thank you in advance.

it is "rocket" science to find a financial accounting chat room. All I can come up with is accounting software and college class sign-up sites.

There are quite a few that scream "CHAT ROOM HERE--MEET HOT SINGLES TODAY." Personally, I find it difficult to believe there are those who prefer that sort of low and base subject matter to "Elementary Cost Accounting."

          Dear Scientist,

Ahem...I have a question about something that's puzzled me for some time (about 50 years or so) and wonder if you...as a "man of science"...would mind clearing it up for me? In 1957 when the Russkies launched the first satellite (Sputnik), my late grandmother launched a theory of her own with respect to the "funny" weather which we were experiencing at the time.

Granny declared, and I quote, "They've done shot a hole in the moon with all them rockets!" Whaddaya think? Any scientific validity to it?

          Much obliged / BB

            Scientist....

I've often wondered if you make a premature distribution retroactive, do you go back in time?

Or is that more along the lines of a question for the quantum theory folks?

Get in line. I know moderatorship has it's privileges, but I asked him first. Go check out UFOs or Bigfoot or somethin' until it's your turn.

Regarding our questions, I think he's taking the scientific approach (ignore all crackpots). Do you suppose he doesn't think we're serious?

My grandfather is one that always believe that the moon landing really did not happen. That it was filmed on a stage in hollywood

I used to work across the road from an older guy who believed the same way -- only difference is in the location. He thought it had been faked in the Arizona desert. He never mentioned it to anybody because he knew they'd laugh at him and he thought there wasn't any use in trying to wise up, as he put it, "a bunch of dang fools." He died still believing that.

Getting back to the original subject ..............

I also would like to find a message board for CPA's and/or A&A..... I'm particularly interested in advice on how to keep a tax/bookkeeping practice from crossing the line.

                      Take a look

                      >>taking the scientific approach<<

Take a look at accountantsworld.com. They have a whole bunch of message boards. Besides accounting & auditing, there's practice management, financial planning, payroll, ethics, fixed assets and others.

Hey, Black Bart, the modern approach to science is not that you can go back in time, but that you can safely ignore what actually happened if you have some idea you like better. I think B-K was trying to answer your question along those lines. Geekgirldany explained it even better, but my comments don't seem to be making any sense at all.

I can take a hint, but people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. One of your questions is pretty much "off-topic" too (more in a minute).

Nothing wrong with the first one: The answer is that this place right here is a pretty good board for CPAs. Old Jack, for instance, is a Missouri CPA and knows a lot of high-toned stuff like you'd probably like. Others here though (including me), are just plain old lower-caste, run-of-the-mill tax preparers. If you'druther not risk contamination; why not just check on the AICPA board?

Now, about that off-topic thing; it's nothin' to me if you're on the wagon and tryin' to stay there -- might even be a couple of ex-boozers here to keep you company (ah been known to take a snort myself). Still, I just cain't see how your wantin' to rap about Alcoholics Anonymous is tax-related.

                        P. S. About that "crossin' the line -- no way around it; you're just gonna have to make up your mind not to embezzle another cent. Discipline, son, discipline -- that's the ticket!'

                          Say Bees,

Do you happen to know where this boy can find a financial accounting chat board? I found one, but it's written in Farsi (takes a smart guy to read that shorthand). The scientist (and LSD) want to stick to the original question and had druther not talk about the moon, time-travel, etc. Shouldn't we oblige?

I don't know of any financial accounting web sites. I'm sure they are out there. I just don't go to any of them.

I do have a suggestion for Scientist. Buy a book on the subject.

Professionals may or may not respond to questions that come from outsiders. People who are obviously not tax preparers who come on this message board often get the cold shoulder treatment from some of our regulars. Professionals sometimes feel it is a site for professionals - not a freebee tax queston and answer site. CPAs who specialize in financial accounting might treat Scientist the same way on their message board if he comes on with basic questions that reveal he is a scientist, not an accountant.

I don't mind having non-professionals come on a site like this. It is open to everyone. I'm just pointing out that not everyone feels that way.

Good point (tax pros) and point taken (buy book).

I checked and there's lots of 'em on Amazon.com. Only thing, they want upwards of 150 bucks for 'em. At one time I coulda bought a lifetime subscription to Playboy (a much more enlightening read) for that.

Think I'll just stick with J. K. Lasser for $19.95.

                              P. S. Note to Scientist: If you don't buy the book; remember -- debits to the right, credits to the left (or is it the other way around? I forget.).
