    i.q.

Nope, it's not "intelligence quotient" -- it's "ignoramus quotient." Lordy, Lordy, it's just...I don't know what.

Reading the Dogpatch Dispatch, I think of a TV review from a few years back -- at the time, astronomers were predicting that a large meteor would come uncomfortably close to earth in the next 30 years. Of "The Jerry Springer Show," the reviewer said, "These people can't be representative of the human race. But, if they are, ... then let the asteroid strike the earth!"

Well, anyway, here's the pertinent parts of the article (it was in the news section, but I felt it should have been reclassified as entertainment):

"A Dogpatch woman was charged with assault, battery, and criminal mischief after she crashed her truck into a home Wednesday, injuring a resident who was taken to the hospital, treated, and released. At 5:30 p.m. police were summoned and responded to a disturbance call described as "a fight in progress." When they arrived, police found Ms.____, incoherent, sitting in a lawn chair in the front yard. Witnesses advised police officers that Ms._____, who is an exotic dancer in a Memphis, TN nightclub, got into a fight with a male acquaintance over a dog that was roaming the neighborhood. She was injured in the melee and, apparently in retaliation, got into her vehicle and drove into his house. Judge____ set bail at $10,000 and she was remanded to police custody in lieu of bond."

Heard this on the radio news

From Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love, a couple, from VA, was visiting the fair city
of Philadelphia and was needing directions to get to a certain place. They spotted a
policewoman so they approached her and asked how to get there. The policewoman
responded "you found your way in here and you can find your own way out. The couple
left and soon spotted another policeman to ask him directions. At that point a second
policeman pulls up in his car, jumps out, tells the couple to get out of their car,
handcuffs them and takes them to jail where they spend 8 hours before being released.
The police dept. is checking into the situation.
