    Will the IRS allow capital gain treatment on Advance Coal Royalties?

      If they are truly "advance coal royalties" they are taxed as royalties not capital assets.

              A Mineral Like Any Other

              Coal is an underground natural resource, like oil, natural gas, gold, etc.

              Same royalty treatment for mineral rights as any other.
