    Splitting a Refund

MFJ - I know I can split a refund into two accounts for direct deposit. Can you split between one direct deposit and the other a check?

a bank or credit union account can be opened with very little money.
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.

I believe she has a bank account, so will inform TP's it either check in joint names or two direct deposits. Only one spouse paid any tax withholding, so I could DD it into his account. She will have to sign off on it anyway.

        Yes.
Have a look at Form 8888, which makes provision for just such a thing.
Part I- enter amount you want as DD and enter DD info.
Part III- line 7- enter amount you want as a check.

Gosh, another RTFM or RTFF solution.

Thanks, guys. I am not sure it will work for what my client wants, however, for while I can deposit half into his account, the other half would be issued by check in joint names. I think he thought it could be made payable to her. I don't think so.
