I have a client/partner who is a SC resident, as I was preparing their tax return it dawned on me, that maybe they would have to do a NC return for the small amount of NC partnership income?

And if they owe any NC tax, then SC will give them a credit on the SC return. The credit will be slightly lower than the amount of tax actually paid, because the NC tax rate is higher than the SC rate. You will need to attach a copy of the NC return and proof of payment of the tax to the SC return, along with a copy of the Tax Credit calculation (SC Schedule TC)."The only function of economic forecasting is to make astrology look respectful" - John Kenneth Galbraith
