How many years can a person deduct expenses, mortgage interest, property taxes, etc., that are related to a commercial property that he has been trying to rent for 4 years. He had it rented before the downturn of the economy.
If he is actively "trying to rent" by evidentiary procedures, i.e, advertising, signage, use of a management/rental agency, etc. then I suppose he can do it for quite a long time. I would want to know what those activities are.
