    medicare premiums -SEHI

Husband had small business with a profit. Can he deduct both his and spouses medicare premiums for the self employed health insurance deduction. No other employment for either, retirement and social security income only.

    thank you

    2 sides to this issue

There are two sides to this issue and been discussed at great length here.
Basically, if you want to rely on ONE letter ruling and really push the issue, take both amounts as deduction up to the profit. If you want to go with the regs that state the insurance plan must be in the name of the business (or owner) then you can only use the taxpayer and not the spouse.
