    non-cash donations

I was not able to find a good answer. F.e. if client has two receipts plus list of donated items, one is for $300, the second for $395, how much can be deducted not dealing with form 8283?

    $499 or $395 as maximum?

    $500 without filing the form.

If the amounts are reasonable, why not file the Form 8283? I have never had the form questioned or asked for more documentation.

      The filing amount is $500

Thanks, yes, sure it's reasonable just so much more work for the client for little benefit.

I always do the form - The taxpayer has to justify!

Could make a difference on the Sched A no matter how small the difference.

I use the $ 500 rule - over that if it can be substantiated I fill out the 8283 form.
