    Walmart Shares

    Client has a 1099-B from Walmart it doesn't show the cost basis, does any one know how to figure the cost basis for Walmart Shares sold??

      The ones that I have had this year did show cost basis thankfully. However if your client has been purchasing stock for some time now and has sold shares purchased some time ago then you will have to figure it out. Walmart does give employees a statement every year showing all stock purchases, dividends, and sales of. Client should have or have kept such records.

        Flip the 1099-B over

        It's usually in a summary on the back if they didn't put it on the front.

          If he worked there, its probably a DRIP and they give him a statement every year. If he does not have those, he will have to get the info from Walmart.
