Don't be afraid to use Google for tax research. In Pennsylvania, we have local, as well as Fed and State income taxes. The localities can be townships, boroughs or cities. Every locality has a different rate and a differenct agency collecting the tax One tax preparer could easily be doing local tax returns for dozens of different municipalites. It has always been a hassle knowing the tax rate and who the collector is for each municipality. CCH Pro Fx is the only software package that gives this info right in the software as a look-up table. (I use Lacerte) I can't get over the fact that I just typed in GOOGLE "Pennsylvania Local Earned Income Tax Rates" and found a websight that has all this info up to date (rates and collectors). I believe we can consider Google as a research tool right along side of the IRS pubs, and TTB.

John of PA, I have been using Google as a research tool for about a year.
I just type in my question, for form no, Pub. no. are just whatever, and tell it
to go search. I got so tired of trying to work my way through the IRS Web site that
I had to do something else.
John, also, if you are looking for law, tax court decisions, go to this web site:
    taxsites.com
You can go to all kinds of things from this site nd not just federal but states also. I use it quite frequently also.
