    EIN Application

    Assisting client with EIN application for an Estate, at the end of the process, it says "Unable to Provide EIN" through the IRS application. It also said to call IRS using "Reference 101." Does anyone know what the error might be?

      What did the IRS tell you when you/your client called? Did you reach your limit of applications? Did the lawyer already apply for an EIN for the estate?

          Haven't called yet, but cannot locate any record of a number being issued previously. Deceased does have a very common name, however. Perhaps there is another one out there.
