Carbonite Back up Svc..CLOSED ENTIRELY...need to locate another backup

Can you believe that. I cant even access my backed up files to see what was backed up. They are closed due to bad weather but I am able to log in but cannot access my files. In this day and age of technology, unless a earthquake hit, how is the data not accessible. Anyone know of any back up Co. located in the SW or West coast?

That is why I will not have a cloud based backup system to be the only source of my backup? What if they close business all of a sudden and that was the only source of my backups.

I will stick with my 3TB external drive and a bunch of DVD for local backup and external storage.

Why does it matter where they are located.. that's not where your data is going to be anyway. Cant go wrong with google's cloud (drive) 5gb free i think.

        Doss it really matte??

If the office is closed - fine. but there are usually AT LEAST two data centers.
If one is unreachable the other takes over.
I've done enough Disaster Recovery drills to know that's simple DR 101.

Someone hit the nail on the head. It should not matter if the office is closed. The data center {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_center} should be open and normally these sites are not even owned by companies like Carbonite. They are professional data centers that run 24/7 and are staffed with security and engineers.
The one should have nothing to do with another.

        MERRY CHRISTMAS..

Oh - Got my TaxBook today... Typo??

The bottom MFS of $150,000 seems fine.

The service I use seems to have been down also the last few days also.
Not sure if it is down nationally or if I'm just having my own connection problem (likely national).

While it is potentially a problem, it's still a very reasonable backup system. I still have access to my files on my laptop and my local backup.
