Tax Credit for Changing from bathtub to shower walk in bath tub - Dr. Ordered

Is there a tax credit or a deduction for a person who has arthritic knees who has been advised (prescribed) by their physician to remodel their home - remove the bathtub and replace it with a shower with a walk in bath tub?

    Citations would be helpful.

    Thank you.

        Done That

Had a 80 yr old client with same problem. She would trip when she raised her leg to climb over the tub. Got a doctor's note and the company that installed the door type bathtub also gave a written certificate.

A realtor looked at it and determined that it did NOT increase the value of the home. In fact according to her, new buyers may actually be turned off by that because if they have kids they will play with that door and leak all over the bathroom.

Sch A medical expense deduction of cost plus installation.
