    DA and EAR Extension

Believe it or not - even the government provides for extension dates of its plans -

From today's IRS -e-News for Tax Professionals -

    2. DA and EAR Retirement Delayed Three Weeks

The planned retirement of Disclosure Authorization and Electronic Account Resolution on Aug. 11 has been delayed until Sept. 2 while IRS completes the transition to a new web portal. DA and EAR users have an additional three weeks to use both electronic products. Once the portal transition work is complete, DA and EAR will then be retired as previously planned and will be unavailable for us

Yes, I saw this today on e-news email delivered - at least a few week reprieve. I have been on e-services and filing in DAR's all week for the clients I know I need them for future years.

Guess I am only in that 10% that use this service from IRS.

Maybe some of the "petitions" from NAEA, "Beyond415" and others that support our efforts are in progress.

I really am hoping that they keep this service - as I do use it

They are ignoring all the petitions....they say they have to do this because of a new computer system that "can't" include these two items. I got a letter from the IRS explaining the entire thing because I made a complaint directly to them.
My position is if this new program is being written for the IRS it can include anything that the writer is told to include! Their excuses don't fly with me. Having said that...we are screwed because they don't care how much time we save. One can only hope that they see the error of their ways quickly and add these back in just as quickly.

Where is the money to pay the writer to do this going to come from? And what makes you think it can be done before the old contract expires?

Where do you think any money the IRS spends comes from. What contract? If they had thought it out before writing the program it could have been included. Any computer program is only as good as the program writer and the program writer can only write the program with the information the IRS tells them to include.
