I dont know how I came across this competitors website but it says Registered with the IRS using the IRS's logo yet no mention of anyone at the firm being an RTRP. Another one of those open 7 days a week by appt only. Lastly, 1/2 off last year fees for new clients. No details so if you purchased TurboTax for $20, this James guy will prepare your tax return for $10?

If he has a PTIN and is an "Authorized IRS Efile Provider" I would guess he's registered with the IRS.

And if one used one of the free file services, do they get half off as well?

Did you notice that he calls himself an Accountant - yet doesn't disclose whether he's licensed or not - but then
touts nothing but various tax services?

A-Z -why don't you report this guy to the NYS Board of Accountancy?

According to NYS law - unless you're a CPA or PA - you're not supposed to call yourself an accountant.

          Discipline

If he is under discipline or sanctions by the IRS would he not also be Registered with them? Not all discipline or sanctions prohibit return preparation even temporarily.

Hard to say what his intention or designation is. If he has a RTPR "status" the IRS has denied the use of this designation until the Loving case is settled. AZ perhaps an anonymous phone call to clarify his actual designation would be in order before reporting him.
